Intel Dive: Continuing client experience center visits during a pandemic

Creative brief

Role: Lead User Experience Designer

Audience: Global business professionals

Needs: With the halt of global travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, Intel was in need of a way to connect with their clients to continue business as usual. We created a custom virtual meeting platform that allows them to have docent-guided presentations and hands-on interactive moments for participants.

From Intel: Technology can be cold and sterile, this virtual experience should be very welcoming and warm.

Intel had recently completed a design for a new physical client experience center, but with the global pandemic had to shift priorities as virtual meetings have become critical for conducting business and user engagement continues to evolve.

DIVE (Dimensional Innovations Virtual Experience) provides a more personal, intimate experience for attendees. Web-based with no software to download, DIVE utilizes role-based permissions to allow meeting participants to co-pilot a presentation and engage in self-guided and facilitator-led experiences within 3D and panoramic environments. Integrated video conferencing features utilize interactive touchpoints to provide deeper insight into an organizational story, while a user-friendly content management system (CMS) makes for simplified, branded content creation in a non-linear presentation.

360º Environments

I lead the effort in planning, modeling and creative directing renderings of a virtual meeting space that users will “enter into” after logging into the web DIVE platform.

Interactive hotspots

Hotspots sprinkled throughout the 360º view can be clicked to reveal supporting content. The hotspot content template was designed to have a diverse typographic hierarchy to support a variety of content for the client’s need.

Presenter & guest video feeds

For a more guided virtual experience, the client has the control to assign video feeds as “presenters.” The custom formatting makes presenters larger and placed in a more prominant location on screen. Attendee videos remain in the top bar.

Live chat

A custom live chat feature was designed to be minimal in order for easy reading, and to keep the emphasis on the custom content.

flexible presentation templates

The client requested the ability to have preloaded presentations ready for prospective clients. I designed the template system for them to control via a CMS. The presentation page consists of a full bleed photo background with a branded text overlay. The client can then select the location and color of each overlay to best build their presentations.

CMS BAsed lists & Surveys

These were additional asset the client requested for more flexibility with custom presentations, and a way to receive participant feedback specific to each meeting.

presenter Control Panel

The presenter role has a specialized tool bar and controls to navigate between content for the meeting.

The virtual experience is here to stay.

“GARTNER PREDICTS THAT BY 2024, IN-PERSON MEETINGS WILL STILL ONLY ACCOUNT FOR JUST 25% OF ENTERPRISE MEETINGS, A DROP FROM 60% PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC. HYBRID TRULY IS THE NEW NORMAL.”
